Understanding Strangulation: A Frontline Response Conversation
Join us for an in-person learning session designed for frontline workers across Oxford County.
This session brings together a healthcare professional from St. Joseph’s Health Care and a detective from the Ontario Provincial Police to share their perspectives on identifying and responding to strangulation in the context of gender-based violence.
Through presentations and a moderated discussion, participants will learn:</p>
- How strangulation may be disclosed in healthcare and policing settings
- The medical risks and realities of strangulation
- How different systems respond when someone comes forward
- Available resources and reporting pathways
- How to better support survivors through coordinated responses
The event will conclude with a Q&A session.
